TikTok is one of most popular app among teenagers which is used to create short videos . This app has been downloaded more than 1.5 Billion times, used all over the world.
According to a research by Check Point (A cybersecurity company in Israel) TikTok app had some serious vulnerability which allows hackers to access users personal details. Using the vulnerability found in TikTok app, hackers can send message to users that contain malicious link and if the user clicks on the link , then all the personal data can be accessed by the hacker including uploaded videos, and private videos also.
Oded Vanunu , Check Point’s head of product vulnerability said that
“The vulnerabilities we found were all core to TikTok’S system”
Check Point notified about vulnerability to TilTok on december 20, 2019 and TikTok has fixed all the issue by december 15, 2019.
In a statement Luke Deshotels, The head of TikTok security system said
“Tiktok is committed to protecting user data.. Like many organizations, we encourage responsible security researchers to privately disclose zero vulnerability to us..Before public disclosure, Check Point agreed that all reported issues were patched in the latest version of our app. We hope that this successful resolution will encourage future collaborations with security researchers.”
